Jane Porter
Jane Porter is an award-winning children's author and illustrator. A former gardening writer, Jane has written and illustrated several picture books including Pink Lion (Walker), King Otter and Tiny Penguins and the New Baby (both Simon & Schuster). Her author collaboration with illustrator Maisie Paradise Shearring, The Boy Who Loved Everyone, won the Little Rebels Award in 2020 and a Christopher's Award in 2022, and the follow-up, The Girl Who Noticed Everything (Walker Books) is a Sunday Times 'best children's book of the year' for 2022. Her collage-based collaboration with author Paul Stewart, Brian The Brave (Otter Barry Books), won the Derby Picture Book Prize in 2020 and she is now working on a fourth book with Paul. Her book, This Rabbit, That Rabbit (Walker) was selected for Bookstart, the world's first national book-gifting programme. She has also illustrated a wide range of projects and designed activity trails for organisations such as London Zoo, The National Trust, English Heritage, the V&A and Kensington Palace among others.
She often runs creative workshops and art projects for children and teaches illustration and comics to adults at Putney School of Art, and has a YouTube channel packed with interviews with fellow picture book makers.
Jane lives in London and enjoys spending time cleaning up her local river, and learning to play the fiddle.
